Lean Body Mass vs. Muscle Mass
Lean body mass and muscle mass are not identical. Muscle mass includes skeletal, smooth, and cardiac muscle. Lean body mass is broader because it also includes bones, organs, water, skin, and other non-fat tissues.
Therefore, your lean body mass will normally be higher than your skeletal muscle mass. This calculator estimates total fat-free weight rather than measuring muscle alone.
