What Is a Salary Hike Calculator?

A salary hike calculator is an online tool that calculates how much your salary will increase after a percentage-based raise. You only need to enter your current salary and the hike percentage offered by your employer.

The calculator displays your revised salary, total increase, monthly salary difference and annual compensation. It can be useful during appraisals, promotions, job changes and salary negotiations.

How to Calculate a Salary Hike

A salary hike is normally calculated as a percentage of your current salary. The basic salary hike formula is:

Salary hike amount:
Current Salary × Hike Percentage ÷ 100

Revised salary:
Current Salary + Salary Hike Amount

For example, suppose your current monthly salary is ₹50,000 and you receive a 20% hike:

  • Hike amount: ₹50,000 × 20 ÷ 100 = ₹10,000
  • New monthly salary: ₹50,000 + ₹10,000 = ₹60,000
  • New annual salary: ₹60,000 × 12 = ₹7,20,000
  • Annual salary increase: ₹10,000 × 12 = ₹1,20,000

Salary Hike vs CTC Increase

A salary hike does not always mean that your take-home pay will increase by the same percentage. An employer may apply the hike to your total CTC, basic salary, fixed compensation or selected salary components.

Your final in-hand salary may also be affected by taxes, retirement contributions, insurance, bonuses and other deductions. Review the complete salary structure before accepting a compensation offer.
