Drainage grade is calculated by dividing the vertical fall by the horizontal run and multiplying the result by 100.

Example Calculation
Suppose a drainage pipe travels 20 feet horizontally and drops 6 inches. Convert the 20-foot run to 240 inches, then divide 6 by 240. The resulting slope is 0.025, which equals a 2.5% slope.
