What Is a Class Grade Calculator?

How Is a Class Grade Calculated?

For a points-based class, divide your total earned points by the total possible points and multiply the result by 100.

Class Grade (%) = (Total Points Earned ÷ Total Points Possible) × 100

Class Grade Example

Suppose you have earned 425 points during your class.

The graded work completed so far is worth 500 total points.

Your calculation is:

(425 ÷ 500) × 100 = 85%

Using the default grading scale, an 85% class grade corresponds to a B.

How Are Lost Points Calculated?

The calculator also shows the difference between your total possible points and the points you have earned.

Points Lost = Total Points Possible − Total Points Earned
