Built for real grading

More than a basic percentage calculator

Weighted calculation

Large exams count more than small quizzes when their weights are higher.

Final exam planner

Calculate the exact exam score needed to reach a target course grade.

Weight validation

See immediately when your entered course weights are below or above 100%.

Responsive design

Works cleanly on desktop, tablet, and mobile without squeezed input fields.

How Weighted Grades Are Calculated

Each score is multiplied by its percentage weight. The weighted values are then added together and divided by the total weight entered.

If the weights total less than 100%, the calculator shows a normalized average for the work entered so far and also shows how many course points that work has contributed toward a 100-point final course grade.

Weighted Average = Σ(Score × Weight) ÷ Σ(Weight)
Required Final Score = (Target Grade − Current Grade × (1 − Final Weight)) ÷ Final Weight

Common questions about grade calculations

Multiply each score by its weight, add those weighted values, and divide by the total weight entered. This calculator performs the calculation automatically.
A complete course grading plan normally totals 100%. If you have only entered completed work totaling less than 100%, the calculator can still show your normalized current average.
It is the actual contribution of your entered work toward a 100-point final course grade. For example, scoring 80% on work worth 50% of the course contributes 40 course points.
Open the Final Grade Needed tab, enter your current grade, desired final course grade, and the final exam weight. The calculator will show the required exam score.
A required percentage above 100% means the target cannot be reached under a normal 100-point exam unless your instructor offers bonus or extra-credit points.
Yes. The percentage calculation remains valid, but schools and instructors may use different letter-grade cutoffs. Compare the calculated percentage with your institution's official grading policy.
