Why Asphalt Density Matters

Asphalt is normally ordered by weight, but project dimensions produce a volume. Density is the conversion factor between the compacted volume and required tonnage.

Weight equals volume with waste × asphalt density. Metric tonnes equal kilograms divided by 1,000. US short tons equal pounds divided by 2,000.
