Important details for estimating eBay fees and seller profitability accurately.
eBay generally charges a category-based final value percentage plus a per-order fee. Insertion, advertising, international, currency conversion, performance, Store, listing-upgrade, dispute, and other charges may also apply.
The fee base generally includes item price, handling, shipping collected from the buyer, sales tax, and other applicable buyer charges, subject to certain shipping exceptions.
For standard US selling fees, the per-order amount is currently $0.30 when the order is $10 or less and $0.40 when it exceeds $10. Certain categories, such as qualifying athletic shoes, may not incur it.
Some categories charge one percentage up to a price threshold and a lower percentage on the portion above it. Other categories apply one rate to the whole sale depending on which threshold it crosses.
Eligible US Top Rated Plus listings can receive a 10% discount on the variable final value fee. The discount does not apply to the fixed per-order amount or applicable additional performance fees.
For US sellers not using eBay International Shipping, an international fee may apply when the buyer or delivery address is outside the US. The current US rate is 1.65% of the total amount of the sale.
Additional fees can apply to Below Standard accounts or categories with Very High item-not-as-described service metrics. From July 1, 2026, longer-running poor performance can produce higher surcharge rates.
