A pip calculator converts a currency pair's price movement into a monetary value based on the size of your forex position.
A pip is a standard unit used to measure small changes in the exchange rate of a forex currency pair.
Knowing the value of each pip helps you estimate potential profit or loss before opening a trade.
Compare different lot sizes and select a position that fits your account balance and risk-management strategy.
The calculator first determines the size of one pip for the selected currency pair. Most forex pairs use a pip size of 0.0001. Currency pairs with the Japanese yen as the quote currency usually use a pip size of 0.01.
It then multiplies the pip size by the number of currency units in your position. When your trading account uses a different currency from the pair's quote currency, the result is converted using the quote-to-account conversion rate you provide.
Pip Value = Position Units × Pip Size × Conversion Rate
In this calculator, the conversion rate should represent how much one unit of the pair's quote currency is worth in your account currency.
Suppose you trade one standard lot of EUR/USD. One standard lot contains 100,000 units, and EUR/USD uses a pip size of 0.0001. When the account currency is USD, the conversion rate is 1.
100,000 × 0.0001 × 1 = $10 per pip
A movement of 20 pips would therefore have an estimated value of $200 for this position. Whether that amount is a profit or loss depends on your trade direction and market movement.
Follow these steps to estimate the monetary value of your forex trade's pip movement.
Choose your forex pair so the calculator can apply the correct pip size for standard or JPY-based pairs.
Select a standard, mini, micro, or nano lot. You can also choose a custom position size.
Add the number of lots being traded. The calculator will automatically calculate the total position units.
Select the currency in which your trading account balance, profits, and losses are displayed.
Enter the value of one quote-currency unit in your account currency. Use 1 when both currencies are the same.
Click the calculation button to view the value per pip and the total value for your selected number of pips.
Lot size determines the number of base-currency units included in a forex position.
| Lot Type | Lot Size | Currency Units | Approx. EUR/USD Pip Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Lot | 1.00 | 100,000 | $10.00 per pip |
| Mini Lot | 0.10 | 10,000 | $1.00 per pip |
| Micro Lot | 0.01 | 1,000 | $0.10 per pip |
| Nano Lot | 0.001 | 100 | $0.01 per pip |

A pip is a standardized unit used to measure changes in a forex pair's exchange rate. For most currency pairs, one pip is 0.0001. For many JPY pairs, one pip is 0.01.
The value of one pip depends on the currency pair, position size, account currency, and applicable conversion rate. On EUR/USD, one standard lot is commonly worth about $10 per pip when the account currency is USD.
Japanese yen exchange rates are commonly quoted with fewer decimal places than most other major currencies. Therefore, a standard pip for a JPY quote pair is usually 0.01 instead of 0.0001.
Enter how much one unit of the currency pair's quote currency is worth in your account currency. Enter 1 when the quote currency and account currency are the same.
Yes. Enter your stop-loss distance in the number-of-pips field. The total result estimates how much that movement would be worth, excluding spreads, commissions, slippage, and other trading costs.
No. Pip value changes when the lot size, currency pair, account currency, or currency conversion rate changes. It should be recalculated for each different position.
