What Is an SSY Calculator?

An SSY Calculator is a financial planning tool used to estimate the potential maturity value of investments made in a Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana account. It calculates the expected result from your yearly contributions, assumed interest rate and the scheme's investment period.

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is designed to help parents and guardians build a long-term fund for a girl child's education and other future financial requirements. Deposits are normally made for up to 15 years, while the account matures 21 years after its opening.

How the SSY Calculation Works

The calculator projects the account balance for 21 years. Contributions are added for the first 15 years only. After the contribution period ends, the accumulated amount continues earning interest until the account reaches its assumed maturity.

Calculation assumptions

For monthly contributions, the selected annual contribution is divided into 12 instalments. Interest is estimated during the year and credited to the projected balance annually. For yearly contributions, the full amount is added according to the deposit timing selected by the user.

The result assumes that the same interest rate remains applicable for the complete calculation period. Since SSY interest rates can be revised, the final amount shown by an actual account may be different.
