What Is a Deadline Calculator?
A Deadline Calculator is a date tool that calculates a future
or past due date from a starting date and a specified time
period. You can add or subtract calendar days, business days,
weeks, months, or years.
It can be useful for project planning, assignments, application
dates, contracts, administrative tasks, delivery estimates,
and other situations where you need to determine a target date.
Example:
Start date: September 1
Duration: 30 calendar days
The calculator moves forward 30 days and displays the resulting
deadline date and day of the week.
Calendar Days vs Business Days
Calendar days include every day of the week, including
Saturday and Sunday. Business days normally refer to weekdays,
Monday through Friday.
Business Day Mode:
This calculator skips Saturdays and Sundays when you select
Business Days.
Public holidays are not automatically excluded because holiday
dates differ between countries, regions, and organizations.
Should the Start Date Count Toward the Deadline?
Some deadline rules begin counting on the day after an event,
while others count the starting date as day one. Because these
methods can produce different results, this calculator includes
an option to count the start date.
Before using a calculated date for an official filing,
application, contract, court matter, or other important
deadline, check the specific rules that apply to that deadline.
Calculate Deadlines by Days, Weeks, Months, or Years
Different deadlines are expressed using different units.
This calculator supports several common date intervals.
-
Calendar Days: adds or subtracts individual
days, including weekends.
-
Business Days: counts Monday through Friday
and skips weekends.
-
Weeks: each week is treated as seven calendar days.
-
Months: moves by calendar months while handling
different month lengths.
-
Years: moves by calendar years and handles leap
years appropriately.
